The reason for Title 9 legislation was equality for women and girls who play sports in schools that receive federal funds. Women and girls can have their own space and teams and be treated with the same respect as the male athletes when it comes to scholarships and funding. Women and girl athletes would not have to worry about discrimination just because they are females. Women and girls got their own locker rooms and equipment needed to fit the female body frame. And women and girls did not have to worry about any intrusions on their space by male athletes.
Now, the Biden administration has redefined Title 9 to include no discrimination based on gender identity. Now for those who don’t know what gender identity means, it’s basically this: anyone who identifies as a gender other than that at birth. A man or boy who claims they are a female and a female who claims they are male. This is a dangerous precedence as this will now allow men and boys who identify as a female to play on female sports teams and allow males in female restrooms and locker rooms.
Now, the Department of Education has not decided on the sports issue for middle and high school as of this post but the DoE has already implemented allowing boys who identify as girls to use girls’ restrooms and locker rooms. And the results of this decision has been absolutely heartbreaking, unnecessary and disturbing. There have already been incidents where these boys have actually been able to get into girls’ spaces and actually beat up girls. This is disturbing on so many levels. These boys have no business in girls’ restrooms and locker rooms.
On the college level, men are already being allowed to play on women’s sports teams. These men are breaking records set by WOMEN in WOMEN’S sports. This is wrong and goes against the equality women have fought for years to achieve. Men and women can NOT compete against each other based on basic biology. Men have more muscle mass, larger body frames, a stronger heart for endurance, more lung compacity, etc. You get the picture. Women can not compete against that. So why allow it, just because a man can’t compete against his peers so he decides he needs to identify as a woman and compete in our sports?
And yes, I said our sports because as a little girl through middle school, I played sports and I couldn’t imagine competing against boys. I remember watching my brother play baseball and was glad I got to play softball. And I had no desire to play football unless it was flag football with the neighborhood kids. And I certainly didn’t want to compete against the boy’s track team in middle school. By that point in life, boys were taller and way stronger.
I stand behind the college women athletes who have stood up against competing against men. I stand behind the the girls who would not compete against a boy in a school track meet. I stand behind the women who are making businesses public who allow men in women’s spaces. We as women have to stand up together and fight this crap. Men, no matter who they think they are or identify as, have absolutely no business in our restrooms, locker rooms or any other place that is designated a woman’s space. This is dangerous. This is allowing predators to invade our space.
