‘Cuz I’m a woman.
Enjoli!
I can bring home the bacon.
Enjoli!
Fry it up in a pan.
And never let you forget you’re a man.
I can work till 5 o’clock.
Come home and read you tickety tock.
Tonight I’m gonna cook for the kids.
And if its lovin’ you want I can kiss you and give you the shiverin’ fits.
This is from a 1980’s commercial for women’s perfume. As a Gen X-er, I can still here this song and see the commercial. At this point in my life, I absolutely loathe this commercial and the lyrics. I CAN’T DO IT ALL! As women, we can’t do it all. God did not create us to do it all. Today’s feminism has really screwed up so much for women. We can’t even define what a woman is anymore. What started as women being seen as a respected other half of the human race, has now become a jumbled mess. I’m not even sure if a jumbled mess is a good description.
A woman’s role and calling is has been laid out from the beginning of time by our creator.
God designed us to be complementarian. [Ge 2:24Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.] [1 Cor. 11:3 But I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of a wife is her husband, and the head of Christ is God.]
God also made us to be the a helper for our husbands. [Ge 2:18 Then the LORD God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.”]
Single women have a role as well. [1 Cor. 7:34 An unmarried woman or virgin is concerned about the Lord’s affairs: Her aim is to be devoted to the Lord in both body and spirit.
When I was a little girl Princess Leia was my hero. I remember thinking “I will be like Princess Leia and be beautiful and run an alliance.” And to my little immature brain whose world revolved around doing what I was told, making good grades, keeping my room clean, hanging out in the neighborhood but making sure I was home before dark, and drank from a water hose, this idea sounded reasonable. What I didn’t know or understand was that Princess Leia couldn’t do it all. She needed individuals who had different abilities and talents which created an extraordinary team. And the force abilities and Jedi training helped too!
Women can’t do it all. I don’t care how much you make, what you cook, or how you give your man the shivers. Women can NOT do it all.
