Immigration, Other Countries, and Reason

It’s time to be realistic about immigration. Immigration has become a sizzling hot topic in America. President Trump made it one of his Presidential campaign promises last year. And now he is making good on that promise.

Other Countries: Illegal immigration is a problem world wide. Countries around the globe have been battling with people who come into a country not of their origin without permission. Some are leaving a war torn country seeking asylum while others are just looking for a country where they can live without any responsibility but still want the benefits of living in said country. The United States has the highest number of illegal aliens than any other country. Most come from Mexico and Central American countries. Others come from the Caribbean, South America, China, India, Middle East, and Africa. Illegal aliens from Canada tend to come from Asian and middle eastern countries. As the U.S. grapples with dealing with illegal aliens and immigration policy changes, there are other countries who have implemented their own stricter immigration policies.

Hungary: Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban declared that he would not allow the citizens of Hungary to become the minority in his own country. In 2015, PM Orban had a 200 mile wall on the southern border with Croatia and Serbia to help curb illegal immigration. Foreign workers were restricted from living in the country long term. Foreign workers are not allowed to change their status for working in Hungary, which goes along with limiting living the country long term. Family of foreign workers are not allowed to settle in the country. Plus Hungary put huge restrictions on the types of jobs that foreign workers can apply. The government felt that its citizens deserve first pick at prime jobs over foreign workers. Plus some jobs are a matter of national security.

Sweden: Sweden began to see huge rises in gang and gun violence because of lax immigration into the country and illegal aliens. So, in turn, stricter criteria for put into place for asylum seekers. The ability for foreign workers to bring family into the country was also given tighter restrictions. Sweden also raised the minimum income threshold for work permits. Now, I did not know what a minimum income threshold meant so I looked it up. It is basically a minimum gross wage that must be earned while in a country on a work permit. The average gross monthly wage in Sweden in $4,500 in USD.

Denmark: In Denmark, changes to immigration regulation and illegal aliens came about due to issues including finding legal employment and support themselves, adopt and assimilate Danish values, and extreme Islamic views. Denmark Prime Minister Mette Fredenksen stated that the country’s goal is to have zero asylum seekers. To that end, asylum seekers/refugees must stay in detention centers. Asylum seekers/refugees are not allowed to roam freely in the interior of the country. Asylum seekers/refugees are not allowed to keep any belongings brought with them until completely vetted and given asylum. Refugee benefits are cut down to nothing with time making refugees seek employment and assimilate into the country if allowed to stay. Syrian refugees have become such an issue in Denmark that temporary protections were withdrawn and Syria take the refugees if found to be running from the law or any other government entity.

Chile: Chile began to have major problems with high crime rates and political and social unrest. The government began see that many of these “refugees” were coming from Venezuela and Haiti. Thus, Chili had to crackdown on there immigration policies pertaining to anyone coming from Venezuela and Haiti.

Australia: The problems caused by lax immigration policies began to create impacts on the Australia’s infrastructure and housing. There was also found to be major abuse and misuse of the visa system. In turn, Australia set stricter requirements on visas for international students. A person could not switch visas in order to stay in the country. The minimum income threshold was raised for certain work permits so you must support yourself. A priority of training and employing citizens became a top priority instead of bringing in people from other countries on work permits. It keeps Australia more self sufficient and not so dependent of foreign workers.

Effects of Illegal Immigration: The fact is having illegal aliens in a sovereign nation will bring a country down. When someone enters the country illegally, we know nothing about them and we do not know what their intentions may be. History has taught us to be weary, as we should. There is the issue of security. Are they associated to religious zealots or radicals? Are they in any legal trouble in country of origin? Are they affiliated with any gangs or political activism? There are economical effects. How will they take care of themselves? Do they have employable skills? How will employing illegal immigrants effect citizens in the work place? Illegal aliens apply and receive welfare benefits, especially if a child was born in the country. Will housing be an issue? Most illegal aliens will not have health insurance which puts a huge crisis and strain on medical care. Assimilating into a society you live in is very important. Will they follow the laws? Will they learn the country’s native language? Will the schools have space for illegal aliens? What about housing? These are all huge issues a country must deal with when it comes to dealing with illegal aliens.

Sojourner: People on the left and Democrats are always trying to throw Christianity into how we deal with illegal aliens. These people compare illegal aliens to the sojourner in the Bible and how we should treat them. People need to go and look up the meaning of sojourner in the dictionary. I know people rarely use dictionaries these days due to how people on the left have constantly changed the meaning of words or adding new meanings. Kind of like they keep doing with the Constitution but I digress. A sojourner is someone who is a traveler. Someone who temporarily stays in one spot before moving on, like a traveler. And when a sojourner decides to stay and live in a specific land that is not there land of origin, they had to assimilate into that land. If not, they would be cast out of the land. If you don not believe me, go read the Bible yourself. The Bible has all the instructions on how we are to handle a sojourner or someone who wants to permanently live outside their country of origin.

The fact is we can not allow illegal aliens in the US. We can only allow people from other countries into the US when it is appropriate. We have rules and regulations for entering and staying in the US for a temporary amount of time or permanently. But it has to be legal. Every nation and country on this planet has rules and regulations for entering from a country of origin and the US is no different. Congress realized this in the early 1900’s and began to implement how and when immigrants may enter into America. In 1917 Congress began limiting the amount of immigrants into the US. The first Immigration Act was passed by Congress in 1924. There have been a number of revisions and additions to the Act through the years. It has not been perfect by any stretch of the imagination. And there will be more changes to come as we deal with the surge of illegal aliens from the past 4 years and the prevention of illegals from coming into the US. The are 124 countries total who have laws against illegal immigration so we are not alone in dealing with this issue. And here in the US, we must go back to the Constitution for what is best for our country and defend it at all costs.
